ABOUT US
On June 21, 1977, the Foundation for the Training of Surgeons and Research in Cancer Surgery was recognized by the Security and Exchange Commission. The foundation was founded by 12 of the very great pillars in our department: Dr Avelino Aventura, Dr Luisita De Castro, Dr Antonio Gisbert, Dr. Edgardo Orlina, Dr Jose Antonio Santos, Dr. Felix Tambuatco, Dr Constante De Castro, Dr Ramon Frauendorff, Dr Modesto Llamas, Dr Ireneo Palma, Dr Renato Sibayan and Dr Juvenal Trinidad. One of the aims was to extend and assistance to indigent patients needing surgery.
In the pre-Covid year from 2015 to 2019, the Department of Surgery has served an average of 1625 patients. The approximate cost to support the indigent patients for the year 2019 was P54,127,714.96. The increasing gap of medical care-cost and earnings of the poor have made care unreachable for most. The hospital needing to afloat has also increased its costing. Many of the poor have thus slid to government hospitals where they are subsidized. Education in many government hospitals, however, is secondary. Help continue the mission. You may give your donations in the details at the end of this brochure.
